Jailyn Jones, a 12th grader at Northwest High School, was found dead on Jan. 24, on the 18900 block of Grotto Lane in Germantown. His death is being investigated as a homicide.

Meanwhile, his mother, Alexis McDaniel, said he was the victim of bullying at the school.

“I asked for help I did," McDaniel told WUSA 9. "I asked the school board to put an end to the bullying, the zero-tolerance with the bullying."

A Montgomery County Public Schools spokesperson told the outlet that due to privacy rules, they don't answer specific questions about students.

A letter was sent to families of students at Northwest High School, advising them of the death and offering to counsel.
